Miller TECHNIKA Architecture + Planning

MEDICAL PLANNING

External market forces are now dictating the economics of medical practice. Few individual physicians, even existing physician groups, can tackle the transition to managed care without expert guidance.

Specialized focus

Miller TECHNIKA understands the day-to-day operational details of medical practice, and can provide the necessary leadership and specialized knowledge to focus planning and move the project forward, in a way no traditional architect or design-build firm can match. Our design process routinely begins with the development of a detailed operational model describing patient flow, staff movements, and re-supply and maintenance cycles. Such a model is an invaluable tool for visualizing and planning physician practice consolidations, and the re-engineering of clinical processes. Perhaps its greatest value is its usefulness in building and retaining strong support and organizational consensus, by clarifying the benefits of the project.

Integration

In 1990 we formally affiliated with Medical Planning & Development, Inc., to offer a fully integrated package of services for medical facility development. In 1996 we absorbed MPD's projects and now offer the full range of healthcare design services, plus special expertise in group practice and ambulatory care planning.

We are familiar with overall trends, the needs of each specialty, and a wide range of alternatives for planning, financing, and developing these specialized projects. We help physicians identify the efficiency improvements needed to stay competitive, and can design facilities to provide an appropriate progression from solo practice to shared space, shared management services, common medical support services, a shared MSO, and finally a fully integrated group practice.

Support services

Both primary care physicians and medical subspecialists need convenient access to support services in order to maintain the efficiency and competitiveness of their practice under managed care. We are experienced in the design of facilities for ambulatory surgery, diagnostic imaging and laboratory procedures.

CAD/CAFM

We also implement computerized facility management systems designed to help hospitals and large, multi-site physician groups control overhead and manage their facility and equipment assets for maximum benefit and return on investment.
